The digestive tract is where everything begins and everything ends. It’s where we break down, absorb, and assimilate food that becomes the components that fuel the cells of the body. Proper digestion, absorption and assimilation is vital to total optimal health.
“You are what you eat” is only partially true. You are what you eat, digest, and assimilate.
Digestive issues are increasingly common; so common that indigestion such as gas, bloating and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are considered normal. Gastrointestinal distress is one of the most common reasons people seek medical expertise. There are many conditions that result from a compromised digestive tract including:
- irritable bowel syndrome,
- inflammatory bowel disease,
- autoimmune disease,
- gastric reflux,
- ulcers,
- allergies,
- thyroid issues,
- candida and dysbiosis,
- inflammatory conditions,
- and many more.
Many integrative healthcare practitioners believe that all disease begins in the gut and science is now corroborating this notion.

“Josh’s Advanced Clinical Focus: Digestion and GI course is an exceptional and comprehensive offering. His deep understanding of the human body, and rigorous research provided so much insight. IBD in particular is a bit of black hole in western medicine, so the guidance Josh offers about diet and botanicals is especially welcome. One day this approach will be mainstream and the suffering people experience from digestive issues will plummet – until then, this course is really an oasis for GI-based wellbeing. Thank you Josh!” – Rachel Schipper
